The hospital began operations on March 1, 1973, after the acquisition of the former Bosco Hospital by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). It expanded from a 13-bed facility to 50 beds in the mid-1970s, later growing into a 200-bed referral center serving Wayanad. Milestones include establishing Wayanad’s first nursing school, launching the district’s first dialysis unit, introducing CT imaging, reorganizing its outpatient department, and adding super-specialty services such as gastroenterology and cardiology with a cath lab. The hospital celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2023.
